Four CRPF troopers killed in Assam blast (updated)
7/30/2010 10:41:22 AM

uwahati: Four CRPF personnel were killed and 30 others were seriously injured when militants triggered an IED blast at Dhalukbudi in Goalpara district of Assam Friday.

According to reports, CRPF personnel were patrolling the area when some unidentified militants set off the explosion at around 8:am.

Although there is no official confirmation in this regard, it is believed that the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants triggered the IED blast.

The landmine was planted in the middle of a road surrounded on either side by thick forests in Goalpara district, about 130 km from Guwahati.

Relief and rescue work has started at the blast site and top police officials have reached the spot to take stock of the situation.

This is the second such blast, which has taken place in the last two weeks in Assam.
