PDP Locks Civil Secretariat Srinagar
Administers a doze of its own medicine to Govt.

Srinagar, July 29: Peoples Democratic Party Legislators led by their leader Mehbooba Mufti today locked the main entrance of civil secretariat of Srinagar and sat on a dharna. This was, what they claimed, to give the government a taste of the siege which it has laid around every citizen of Kashmir. Holding placards to highlight the atrocities on women, children and general public the legislators demanded dismantling of repressive arrangements in place to muzzle the voice of people.
The PDP President Mehbooba Mufti while speaking to the media persons said government had let loose a reign of terror and by its own account as many as 1400 teenagers have been arrested, even as the actual figure is much larger. She said the continued undeclared curfew and inhuman restrictions have converted the whole valley into a large prison. She said even though the community had responded to needs of poor the government did not even allow the relief goods to reach those in need of them.
Expressing the solidarity of her party with the people of valley, Mehbooba said that all the organizational units will contribute their mite to the relief effort and help in saving the poor from starvation. Mehbooba said the government should lift the restrictions and release all the detainees before the holy month of Ramdhan.
Those who participated in the protest include Senior Leader s Muzaffar Hussain Beig, Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, Mohd Dilawar Mir General Secretary, Murataza Ahmad Khan, Ab Rehman Veeri, Mohd Khalil Bandh, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Syed Bashir Ahmad, Ab Razak Zawoora, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Choudhry Zulufkar, Rafiq Hussain Khan, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Mansoor Hussain ,Nizamudin Bhat, Nizamudin Khatana, and others.
