Poonch, Reasi enter semis of U-16 cricket

UDHAMPUR, July 29: District Poonch and Reasi today qualified for the semi-finals registering impressive wins in the ongoing inter-district divisional level under-16 cricket tournament at Subash Stadium, here.
In the first quarterfinal Poonch trounced district Samba by five wickets. Batting first Samba bowled out for 59 runs in 15 overs of the 20 overs match, which, in reply, Poonch chased in 14 overs making 60 runs for the loss of five wickets.
In another quarterfinal, district Reasi registered eight wickets win over Kathua.
Meanwhile, in under-14 category, district Doda and Jammu have made it into the semi-finals. In the quarterfinals, played today, Doda defeated Poonch by eight wickets. Batting first, Poonch bowled out for just 24 runs in seven overs. In reply, Doda attained the goal of 25 runs in mere three overs losing two wickets.
Jammu district overpowered Samba by 10 wickets in the second quarterfinal. Batting first, Samba lost all their wickets for 24 runs in eight overs, which, in reply, Jammu chased in just two overs without any loss.
This tournament is being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) under the overall supervision of district officer, Rajinder Singh at two venues of Subash Stadium and Government Degree College.
