Srinagar July 29: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that the state government is committed to the cause of secularism and brotherhood which is the essence of the ethos of Kashmir - Kashmiriyat.
The Chief Minister assured a delegation of Sikhs, who approached CM to lodge a complaint of a communal attack on a Sikh youth in South Kashmir, that their security and welfare will be ensured by the state government and the elements having nefarious design to disturb the traditional communal harmony of the state will be dealt with sternly.
Omar said the majority community in Kashmir has always respected the sentiments of the Sikh community and continue to do so even today. He condemned the incident that has occurred and assured that the state government will take all steps to safeguard the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
The members of the Sikh delegation brought to the notice of the Chief Minister certain issues pertaining to their community and the Chief Minister assured that the issues highlighted by them will be addressed by the government.
The delegation who met the Chief Minister included S. K.N. Singh, President Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Srinagar, S. Manjeet Singh, General Secretary, S. Gurmeet Singh, Secretary and S. Mahinder Singh, senior citizen.
