Handball: Jammu to fight for 3 titles today

Jammu, July 29: Hosts Jammu district today made it to the finals of under-17 and under-14 boys as also under-17 girls' event in the two-day annual inter-district divisional level handball tournament, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Gulshan Grounds, here.
Now, Jammu shall be competing for three titles when take on the opponents in the title clash tomorrow at the same venue.
In the under-17 boys' final, Jammu shall lock horns against district Udhampur. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Jammu blanked Rajouri 11-0 while Udhampur trounced district Doda by seven goals to four. In another preliminary round match, Doda defeated district Poonch 5-3. In all, five districts turned up for the competition.
Meanwhile, in under-17 girls' event, Jammu shall take on district Udhampur in the final tomorrow. Since only three teams reported in this category, Jammu got direct entry into the final while Udhampur registered 7-0 win over district Poonch.
Again in boys' under-14 competition, three districts turned up resulting into Jammu district to meet district Doda in the final. Earlier, in a preliminary round match, district Doda trounced Udhampur in a close contest 3-2.
Today's matches were officiated by Inder Parkash, Kartar Dogra, Jyoti Sharma, Gourav Sharma, Ravi Singh, Tariq and Harbans Singh.
