| Free Valley from clutches of subversive, anti-national elements: Chaman | | | NL Correspondent
JAMMU JULY 29: Terming the situation in many parts of Kashmir valley as quite bad, the leader of the BJP legislators party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has observed that the Government authority is in shambles and the people there have been made hostages by the enemy agents and religious fundamentalists acting upon the instance of powers hostile to India.
On his return here from Srinagar, Prof. Gupta said that malady is so serious that the government functioning has been paralysed. Many officials are not attending to their duties. Even in the civil secretariat the attendance is so poor that the locks of certain offices may not get opened if there are not men from Jammu and Ladakh.
All the more astonishing is that many of the Ministers are not coming to the Secretariat and mysteriously they have confined themselves to their bungalows or have left the valley at the mercy of stone pelters and anti-social elements, he added.
The BJP leader said that troubles and turmoil in Kashmir valley are not something new. In this regard, he recalled to 1947 when raiders had over run many parts of the state. Similarly, there was turmoil in 1953, when the Congress and certain leaders of the NC had deposed and jailed their leader Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah. In 1965, the Pak-sponsored armed infiltrators had reached even in the capital city of Srinagar. The outbreak of Pak-sponsored militancy in 1989, had created a grave situation for a long time. All the turbulences were tackled with a skill and firm hands, he added but regretted that this time the will and sincerity seems to be missing and approach of both that of the coalition leaders of the state and those of the centre.
Prof. Gupta regretted that there were continued efforts by the enemy agents to demoralize the forces by raising the boggy of violation of human rights and the leaders of the coalition had joined the chorus in parroting the same voice.
Referring to the controversial statements during all these months of the ruling leaders, he said that these had only strengthened the secessionists and extremists to bring the valley to a position of turmoil.
But more astonishing are the decisions of the Coalition Cabinet, especially about the appointment of a Commission of Enquiry when the turmoil is still engulfing many areas and the existence of the authority is badly missing.
The other announcement for providing of relief to families of those who were killed in the violence is also immature especially when the enquiry was still to be conducted.
There are similar such other announcements of the ruling leadership which are not only discriminatory and unfair but lack of vision, the BJP leader maintained and voiced surprise that all this was happening when there are some quite experienced and elderly politicians are too in the state ministry. Strongly pleading for firm handling of the problems in the troubled Valley, Prof. Gupta said that first of all the Valley should be freed from the clutches of subversive and anti-national elements who are dominating and have made the life miserable of the peace loving and law abiding people. In the situation the centre should also play their role and duties. |
